Amatuer Career
Rose first cracked the 70-mark at age 11, and by the time she was 14 she had a plus-one handicap. When Rose was 17, he made two entrances into the golf world: first, he played in the Walker Cup as the youngest golfer ever, and second, on Sunday at the 1998 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, he holed a 50-yard shot from the rough for a birdie, tying for fourth place and winning the silver medal for the low amateur. The next day, he went professional.
